Whyswomen is a practical sort. We're ambling around the Dupont Circle area in Washington, D.C. - given the relentless sun, perhaps "staggering" is a better word - when on a streetcorner by a miniature version of the Spanish Steps, she conjures up a bit of fresh evening cool.

I hadn't even realized we were on the lost side of knowing where we were, but she even found a policeman to ask for directions. And a London bobby no less, or so it seems. Obligingly, he calls in to check our position.
