every spear of grass

E Barney

I have yet to absorb enough poetry that it pops into my head as I look at the world, but I am stealing this Whitman quote from a Utata thread because I think it's worth a thousand feet in the grass photos:

Every spear of grass—
the frames, limbs, organs, of men and women, and all that concerns them,
All these to me are unspeakably perfect miracles.
- from "of Perfect Miracles“

Our lawn mower broke down last fall so this spring the neighbor's yard (that we take care of) was full of bishops weed - the blue flowers. We keep the dandelions down, but I like the colors. Bah humbug on growing plants just to keep cutting them off. I like variety and natural forms, but it's not my voice that gets the final vote.

I screwed up the colors when I scanned this frame, so these may not be "typical" or "accurate" colors for the film, but they are accurate to the physical objects as seen by my eyes.
