Jody Miller has been making photographs for over 40 years, since the age of 9 when her parents gave her a Brownie box camera as a birthday gift. She got serious about photography in her late teens, and has been “chasing the light” ever since.
Classically trained in art school and now working as an art director and video effects artist in Hollywood, California, art and photography have always been the driving creative forces in her life.
She has studied photography with Ansel Adams, Arthur Ollman, Jerry Uelsmann, Olivia Parker, Roy DeCarava, John Sexton and Don Worth, and has been perfecting her craft in earnest for the last 25 years.
After discovering the wonders of Photoshop, she was able to resurrect many of her old negatives and found flickr the perfect place to archive them online. Little did she know that this online group would be the primary source of artistic inspiration and friendship that it has become. Utata and its wonderful group of creative and diverse individuals has influenced her life forever for the better.
