It's one thing — but it's a big thing. A little over four miles in length. The skywalk, they call it — a covered walkway that snakes its way through downtown Des Moines.like a human-scale gerbil habitat. It's designed to separate pedestrian traffic from vehicle traffic — to allow people to walk around the downtown area while staying dry in the rain and warm in the winter.
