Of course, not everything I share is that deep, dark, or important. Lots of my online life is full of silliness and sunshine. And that's a funny thing, too--if you'd gotten to know me years ago, before my Internet Existence began, it might have taken me months (or even years) to let you in on how downright dippy I am. I might have been serious, smart, and sarcastic forever. I might never have cracked a smile or showed you the shape of the holes in my socks.

The thing about baring your heart is that you don’t just get to spill the ache. Once I got the hang of it, I realized that I’d also get to spin in circles while I typed, dizzy and ditzy and laughing like a hyena, not caring what anyone thought, because—remember? I can’t see you see me.
