Quiet Studio

ready for the road

Sometimes the road just calls out to you. No destination, just a desire to get in the car and go. Watch the sun set in the rear-view mirror, drive all night, stop at some diner for breakfast when the rising sun gets in your eyes. Leave your Jose Cools on the dashboard.
I’ve been drivin’ all night, my hand’s wet on the wheel

It’s not the car that calls us; it’s the road itself. It’s not entirely curiosity, wondering what lies beyond the next bend. It’s not even restlessness in the true sense. It’s escape. It’s letting momentum carry us along. It’s supplanting thought with motion. It’s leaving behind, however temporarily, all the wearisome weight of the world. It’s putting on a pair of sunglasses and blocking out everything you don’t want to see.
The radio’s playing some forgotten song

Just drive. Just get in the car and drive. Just give in, just for a while. Just go.
We’ve got a line in the sky…radar love
