Pule Hill

I spend my days in an office, staring at a computer stream. My exercise is taken in bursts – hikes to pick up something from the printer, forages to the kitchen for tea and a digestive biscuit.

Outside the world goes on while I answer emails, make calls, go to meetings. I stare out of my window and long for blistered feet as trophies for a day spent out on the moors.  I ache for the burning pain when a face frozen by a day outside meets warm office air.

I long for landscapes like this. For peat on my boots and under my fingernails. I crave these  big empty skies and wide open moors. The call of the grouse and the song of the skylark. I want to be out watching fingers of cloud stretching for miles above me. For the gentle light that picks out heather and bilberry on Pule Hill.
