Uta Barth is akin to an abstract photographer. Her photos aren't so much about any particular subject as it is about the act of seeing. To photograph the "act of seeing" one must remove any subject and frames of reference to that subject. In this way the viewer participates in the photograph as the subject of the act of seeing.
