El Lissitzky

"The artist constructs a new symbol with his brush. This symbol is not a recognizable form of anything which is already finished, already made, already existing in the world - it is a symbol of a new world, which is being built upon and which exists by way of people"

The photos are all road markings and are titled after various abstract painters of the last century. They aren't copies, homages or interpretations of these artists in particular. Instead I set out to find a superficial resemblance to some aspects of 20th c. abstract artists work in general and these are what emerged from that search. The quotes are the artists own. I make no comment on them except to say I like Jasper Johns' simple, self-deprecating and witty statement of his approach. Nevertheless, there they are, make your own mind up.
