Peterborough has had its fair share of well known citizens. Prime Minister Lester B. Pearson went to high school at Peterborough Collegiate and Vocational School. You may have heard of PCVS recently when it was closed a few years ago. It made the national media and visited by Rick Mercer and tweeted by Neko Case. Jim Balsillie of Blackberry fame grew up here. Serena Ryder went to highschool here, too.The Peterborough Petes junior hockey team has sent the most players to the NHL. Sir Sandford Fleming's first stop in Canada was a brief stay at his cousin's home in this city.
