goof

Within days of knowing her, I was sure that Sweet Pea had a great sense of humor. I’ve still never heard her tell a joke, but the fact remains that she has a keen sense of when a moment is too serious, too sad, and it is then that she breaks out the goofball antics. She has learned what it takes to make me laugh, she knows when I need to laugh, and she makes it happen. Whether it is a well-timed army crawl across the carpet, a random session of tail-chasing, or something else, she knows how to have fun, and her sense of fun is contagious.

I have learned over the past couple of years that there are few things in this life that taking some time and playing with the dog can’t fix. Very few things. For a person who tends to take things and hang onto them too tightly, learning how to let go and laugh and run around in the yard has been an invaluable lesson. At a time when I was desperate for it, Sweet Pea restored my sense of fun, and every day since then, she’s kept it alive.
