CHICAGO

Check the maps Chicago is landlocked. So when you've driven more than 2,000 miles, through desert, over mountains and prairies, all the way from the Pacific Ocean and find that Chicago is full of sailors it feels like a bad manners to ask what they're all doing there. I asked Meeralee anyway. She fielded the question beautifully, by asking me in return, why it is that sailors wear such silly uniforms. So as far as I know, they were there to eat ice creams and chat up pretty women. I should probably have asked TomLA instead but he was busy showing Alice and Grace how to be photographers, while balancing Carl on his head.

So we spent a mellow sunny afternoon in Millennium park with Tom and Sue, Meera and Ross, and promised ourselves we'd visit again.
