A Projected Echo

Projections are the future. By definition they must go ahead of us. Echos are remnants. By definition, they must stay behind us. One the shadow where the foot will fall, the other the trace a footstep leaves behind. In the whispered transaction, between past and future, each stretching out like an endless ribbon of energy, is the present.

In every moment, I believe, you own a little of the past and little of the future – you exist in a time where even a brief failure in belief or faith, a sudden urge, a human foible or a burning ambition might alter either of those things. Every decision comes while the foot is in the air, suspended between a projection and an echo.

This is a wonderful concept piece, beautifully named and beautifully executed: I am moved to consider the transient nature of time and my own humanity. In there, between the dark and the light and the heat and the cold is the only thing I own absolutely: free will. The ability to decide what I will project, what my ehco will look like.
