Diana Pappas

Fido

He is the very model of the modern even-toed ungulate. Sophisticated, well-read, equally at home on the farm or in the city. He can tote ore down from the mountain and still dance the night away in the hippest of bistros. He is proud of his ancient heritage but modest (he shyly admits being descended from Urcuchillay, the multi-colored Incan deity…”It was a long time ago,” he says). Although he is ‘down’ with the common Artiodactyls, he’s still more than able to hold his own in the raging debate about whether the Ungulata are cladistic or merely a phenetic group. He’s fashionable but not fashion-conscious, and looks just as good in a bespoke suit or faded jeans. He knows his way around the wine cellar and can whip up a Valencian paella quick as a wink, but he’s just as content with a pale ale and half a bale of bromgrass.

And ladies…he’s single.
