remember

Somewhere a road rolls out into the distance, somewhere trees slice the sky. We were there together, you and I. Do you remember? Do you remember the feel of the gravel under our tires, the blood that battered our poor hearts, so fresh with fondness? Do you remember how after a while we were no longer driving, but flying? We were kites, free for a moment but bound to fall, and we were made of paper and wind. Do you remember? I do.
