Moondance

It’s an October night when the sky is so clear, so full of stars that it looks like it’s gone mad. The air is smooth and as cool as a stone and it smells as sharp and sweet as leaves burned hours before, and the leaves underfoot are as soft as cold ash, for they’re too fresh from the trees to crunch just yet. The wind blows as gentle as a touch from a new lover, and the sky is so clear, so clear that I can dream myself in it, glowing softly like the wise smile of the moon.
