Walking on Sunshine

Not only is it virtually impossible to look at this photograph without smiling—not only is it equally impossible to see those tippy-tilting red slippers and not feel your own toes sliding forward in mirror-response—not only will I call you a liar if you tell me you are not gripped by the impulse to run forward and snatch up this pink-cardiganed Emerson and whirl her around and around in the air—besides all that, there is no way on God’s green earth you can look at this and not have an earworm. Instantly. Happily. Ineluctably.

I used to think maybe you loved me
Now baby I’m sure
And I just can’t wait till the day
When you knock on my door
Now every time I go for the mailbox
Gotta hold myself down
Cause I just can’t wait till you write me you’re coming around…
