a pretty carton of eggs
two brown, two by Chagall
that man by the wall
got a telephone call
and
c R a C K
those eggs were gone
if you could go back to May
to that perfect spring day
to the store in the cafe
you would take
those eggs away
a pretty carton of eggs
two brown, two by Chagall
just there on the floor
light you could not ignore
what a pity that
your camera
couldn’t save them all
