Wonderful red shoes

Sometimes all the world’s troubles and muddles and limitless frustrations must give way before a pair of red shoes.

There’s a critical election looming in the U.S. The European economy is as unsteady as bum on an eight-day drunk. The Arctic icecap is melting at an unprecedented rate. New viruses seem to be discovered every week, and existing viruses are mutating in wildly unpredictable ways. And there’s absolutely nothing you can do about it.

But you can put on a pair of red pumps. You can go out on the street and let those red shoes carry you along, you can bring a moment of delight to those still alive enough to appreciate them, and you can let your shoes shout out defiance to all the world’s woes. The world may go to hell, but when it does you’ll be going there in wonderful red shoes.
