Stormy Bay

There’s a storm coming in. You stand and watch as it rolls across the sky –  waves and waves of weather.  It’s a Thursday, you are out for a walk and you know there’s no going back. That would be against the rules.

So you walk on. You can see the rain shooting out of the clouds – gunning down on the city.  An army of cloud advances and you can feel the first spots – the advance party in the weather war. And you get out your camera, feel it shake in the wind but you take a shot and another and another. Click click click.

The rain starts as you put your camera away, watertight under your jacket and you walk on. Fists stuffed into pockets, head down as the waves of weather slap against you, rain and wind slamming into you. The rain needles at your face and the wind, slap slap slaps against your chest.

You round a corner, there’s some shelter when you slip inside a shopping mall. You can see the wind outside, railing at the trees, shaking newspaper stands, shoving old men aside as it tears onwards. You can see the wind but it’s soundless, spent. You grab a coffee, wait it out, take up your camera and review your shots.
