They are so treelike, and yet so utterly unlike nature. Artificial, yet just like tropical trees that grew from seed, they harbour ferns and shelter orchids. In the day time they sleep, provide shade, suck rays of light from the tropical sun and turn it into energy. They take water from Singaporean storms and save it to quench the thirst of the orchids and ferns.
At night, while the ferns and orchids sleep the futuristic forest lights up, patterning the night sky, son-et-Lumièreing its way through the evening. You can stroll through the treetops on an aerial walkway, take in a bite to eat if hunger strikes.
These are trees under which to make mad proposals of undying love, trees through which to stroll arm in arm on an anniversary eve.
