It’s the 80s – there’s a girl in a blue wig. I see guns and cars and, well — you have a pretty good imagination so go on and use it for yourself…

There are so many brilliant entries to the Utata Pays Homage project that it almost seems rude to pick just one, but these are the rules of the Front Page. So consider this as a representation of the eye-watering talent of the Cindy Shermans who dressed up for the camera and snapped themselves in film-like poses. And know that this is one of the many homages in this project to Eggleston, to Bassman, Brassaï, Yeager and Barth that stopped me in my tracks and left me lost for words.

And let me tell you that in this shot, Phoenix in her blue wig and leather boots and that patch of light is so Cindy Sherman that I’m sure I’ve seen the movie at least a dozen times.
