Snug

I am generally unimpressed by newborn babies, even the ones I made myself.  Little things with balloon bellies and dangly, froggy legs.

Oh but when they’re asleep they are so very beautiful.

I do not swoon at the smell of baby skin, or coo over their little wrinkly toes and papery soft fingers.

But sleeping, they are living miracles.

Don’t talk about how soulful their eyes are. Their eyes are most beautiful when closed, when all the silky lashes can tickle cheeks. We spend a third of our lives asleep and newborn babies  know how to do it with style. Life is exhausting. Sleep is beautiful. Snuggle up beautiful baby.
