The trees were there before civilization took root — and people worshipped the trees.
The massive stones and rolling landscape were there before the trees took root — and people worshipped the stones.
The mist was there before glaciers pushed the boulders into place, before walls of gradually-moving ice scraped and carved out the rolling landscape — but there was nobody to worship the mist.
The mist was there before there were people.
And when the trees are gone, and the people are gone, and the landscape is planed and scored again, the mist will still be there.
