The sky

Among the reasons I love this photograph:

The softness of mottled clouds.

The sun, a welcome smudge of color that draws the eye down deep, but not too fast.

The feeling that we might not be where we think we are. We might be gazing up from the side of a hill, as dew finds its way onto the grass and the insects start singing their songs. Or we might be in water, rippling through the shallows, admiring the play of fading light on the surface from below.
