In a light breeze the leaves of the tree would delicately whisper their secrets. In a gale, the tree’s branches would bend and sway like a matador’s cape, recklessly taunting the elements. During a soft spring rain the tree’s leaves would conspire with raindrops and the puddled earth to make subtle music.

In humans, the feeling that an amputated or missing arm or leg is still attached to the body and is moving appropriately with other body parts is referred to as ‘phantom limb’ sensation.

Does a tree still feel the memory of its leaves rustling? The mad passion of a storm? Does it feel the leaf-tickle of raindrops?
