Robert Frost had some clever and pretty things to say about fire and ice and the end of the world. But he was a poet with an occasional eschatological turn of mind; saying clever, pretty things was his job. I don’t know nothing about the end of the world — and I’d like to keep it that way.

But I know ‘pretty’ when I see it. I know it, and I appreciate it. I also know that describing somebody’s photograph as ‘pretty’ is often seen as a backhanded insult. But this IS pretty, and I’m happy for having seen it. I’m happy Clara saw it and took the time to photograph it. Because regardless of what happens to the world, regardless of whether there’s fire or ice, there’s always something pretty to look at. And there are always people who’ll take the time to see it and share it.

I think our boy Robert Frost would agree.
