Christmastime
chalkdog

If the wind is blowing up a storm named Barbara, whipping up the rain and hailstones and hurling them in your face as you step outside for that last minute Christmas shop…

If you’re battling your way through the supermarket, trying to reach the last of the veg and a woman blocks your way while she ponders the parsnips, considers the carrots and broods on the last bag of brussels sprouts…

If your family are yelling and your dog is dancing while the cats naps on the kitchen table, and all you want to do is pick up Father-effin’-Christmas and throw him into the middle of next year …

Stop.

Take a breath, remind yourself it’s only one day.

Forgive the pondering parsnip woman because she might have been spending Christmas day alone with a plate full of veg. Forgive the wind and rain because it’s just weather and Christmas spirit is not about snow. Let the cap nap on and the dog dance for his dinner. Eat up your parsnips and enjoy your sprouts, and remember that love it or hate it, you’ll be on to the next moment before you know.
