It was the sea that brought us here. The sea and the beach, where we prepared the kite and released it into the wind that lifted it up into the sky. And now the kite is high above, nowhere to be seen. The hands and wrists controlling the kite line are blurry, in motion. The beach isn’t even in the frame. The only thing in focus is the sea.
Most photographers would photograph the kite. Natalie has implied the kite. Most photographers would show us the person flying the kite. Natalie shows us how the kite is controlled. Most photographers would concentrate on placing the kite and the kite-flyer on the beach. Natalie understands that we don’t need to see the beach to know it’s there. Instead, she shows us the sea.
Which is only right, since it was the sea that brought us here.
