Hose
I know it’s just a hose on a wall.
I know this.
It’s true.
But waiting in the shadows I see…
a white crane about to spread its wings.
A poodle with its nose in an ice cream cone.
A pumpjack snuffling in an oilfield.
A Matryoshka doll, nestled in the coiled hose.
The cobbled streets of Amsterdam in the tiles. And a dirty London Underground station. Euston, perhaps, or Bank?
The curve of the shooting circle on a hockey field.
The orange and yellow tones of an autumn woodland…
