Conversations with Night Garages

If these garages could speak, what tales they could tell.

If they were shocked by the antics by the late-night revellers, they wouldn’t let on. If they’d been witness to a horrific murder just before dawn, who would they tell.

But I’d like to think that if someone stumbled past and sat down because they could go no further, resting their back  against the cold corrugation of the left-hand door, the garage would be tempted to whisper words of comfort. Those soft phrases might be barely audible metallic breaths and scrapes. But that lonely soul, depending on the garage door for respite and shelter, would finally get a feeling that something was on their side.
