This way

This way? Seriously?

We look at this and think, “Well, yeah, of course, it’s 2020, nothing makes sense, everything is contradictory.” We think that because it IS 2020, nothing DOES make sense, and everything IS contradictory.

But basically that’s just the world we live in. We like to believe that things used to make sense, but they didn’t. We like to believe there was a time when there was less contradiction, but there wasn’t. Every day is, and always has been, ‘Two roads diverged in a yellow wood.’ Every day, ‘Do I contradict myself? Very well, then I contradict myself, I am large, I contain multitudes.’ Every day, ‘Oh, the contradictions of having a broom and not a dustpan.’ Every single day, ‘a seventeen pound bicycle locked to a hundred pound bench by a ten pound chain.’

So yeah, this way. It’s always this way. Always has been, always will be, as it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be, same as it ever was, same as it ever was, world without end, and the green grass grows all around, all around.

But tomorrow…tomorrow will be different.
