The Blue Pool

It looks cold, so you might not want to jump in. The sky is icy white, or foggy white. Cloudy white. It’s not a warm day. But the pool is blue and inviting. After the first bone chilling shock, your nerves will tingle under your skin. You’ll splash about and feel the warmth of blood circulating and a dopamine hit will send a smile to your face.

Or you might not jump in, you might sit on the soft blanket of decaying leaves and listen to the bird song.  You might think about the fungal networks plugged into the roots of the trees that soar above you. You might go to the edge and trail a hand in the water. And that feel-good network in your body will send a smile to your face.
