what am i thinking

There is something lovely about the quiet act of contemplation. Sitting still, calm, composed, at ease, thinking. Doesn’t matter what’s being contemplated; the act itself is beautiful and, in a very real way, holy.

It comes from the Latin contemplari, which originally meant creating a still space for observation. The root term is templum, from which we also get the word ‘temple’; a space that’s been consecrated, set aside for spiritual guidance.

We see all that right here, in this photograph. Therese, sitting quietly, still, relaxed, thinking…and in doing so, she’s created a small temporary holy place, a consecrated space that will exist for as long as she sits there, contemplating.

It’s lovely, isn’t it.
