Phoenix Coverley

These are two women from Brisbane we picked up hitchiking when I traveled around Australia in the mid-90s. Here they are pictured reading and writing in their journals...probably to log the effects of their favorite book on Fruitarianism. That's right, these girls thought they would combine their travels with a diet consisting entirely of those items which contain either pits or seeds. I love avocados n all, but seriously folks. Okay, to each their own. Anyhow, I just tried to find a link to their little fruit noshing bible because I felt then, and still do that the image on the back- of an emaciated blond guru in loin cloth sitting with legs crossed- pretty much said it all. Priceless.
Incidentally, the ladies were in the diet each for their own reasons. On the left, we have the ultimate in control and structure and the right, a lovely woman whose body refused to conform to societal definition of paper thin body ideals- of course, this may be attributable to her little falls off the wagon where she landed squarely with a bag of chips and a chocolate soy milk...but perhaps not.
