I love every corner of our new apartment very dearly (except for the bits of old German newspaper falling out of the fireplace, which is not properly bricked up -- grrr), but perhaps my very favorite part of it is not even indoors. This little back deck we have, where two of our kitchen table stools live and where I like to sit and read, is probably what makes me feel the most attached to this space. It feels open, yet safe (I can go inside and hide anytime I like). When I am out on the deck I feel connected to the world but still tucked away in my own private corner of it. And the sun on all this wood is a sight to behold indeed.
It's very nearly almost home now.
