You've Gotta Start Somewhere

Michael Perkins

For the UTATA group's latest "Weekend Project" on "precious" objects in our lives, my first camera, The Imperial Mark XII. One shutter button, fixed aperture of about f/5.6, 620 roll film, typically 100 ASA although I also shot Extrachrome slide film with it. Not pictured here is the primitive but acceptable flash attachment. By today's coolness standards, this is an "edgy" hipster camera since it enabled double exposures (easy, just don't wind the film!), light leaks, vignetting, and all the other "artifacts" of a cheap hunk of plastic. But it gave me the fever.....
