At the grocery store

View On Black - Large

An old grocery store occupied by a spanish speaking gentleman located in the "hoogstraat" or "rue haute" in the old city quarter known as "De Marollen" or "Les Marolles" (in French) (the name Hoogstraat means Highstreet in Flemish/Dutch).
I'd noticed this quaint little grocery store when I passed by and decided to talk to the shopkeeper and ask him if it was allright for me to take some photos. We spoke in french, talked for a while and I took some photographs.

Brussels is , in fact, the only major city in Belgium.I've always avoided going to brussels to shoot photographs partly because I was afraid it would be to overwhelming. It is ! But, as this is the only major city in Belgium with some international allures that's more or less comparable to say Paris or london ( on a much smaller scale though) it is here that one may find the most captivating scenes and images and fascinating people of all genders and cultures.
Up 'till now i've always gone out to smaller cities to shoot but now that i've tasted the feeling of shooting here I'm bound to come back many times.
