A mountain of Clothes

View On Black - Large

A mountain of clothes at the daily antiques and second-hand goods market at the old quarter known by the locals as "De Marollen" or "Les Marolles" in french. The place we are at here ( a square) is known as "Het Vossenplein" (the name means "square of the foxes" in Flemish/Dutch) and this market is held every single day. You'll find antiques, bric-à-brac, second-hand goods, paintings, art.The whole neigbourhood breathes a rather mediterranean atmosphere.People living here are of mixed cultures ; lots of north africans, africans, belgians, even some americans and others who have once passed by, fell in love and stayed around. This is not a modern neighbourhood but if you're looking for a taste of the "real" brussels, this is where you've gotta be.It's thriving with life, it's exotic and yet known. It's surreal and could be a scene out of a comic book.I'm glad I'm no complete stranger to this city as I've lived here way back in the early nineties for a few years.
