The KitKat Man

axel stevens

View On Black - Large

I was walking through the small town of Niel ( lies in the province of Antwerp, Belgium, in a region known as "De Rupelstreek" (the name means "Rupel (a river) region" in Flemish/Dutch) and had been roaming and scouring the streets for quite some time when I came by a small road that led up to the dike next to the river Rupel. Not far away, below the dike, on some uncultivated piece of land, I saw and old man rummaging through some veggies and I took some pictures. But even with my new "18-135mm" kit lens the man was to far of. I asked myself if I should walk up to the old man (I had to find a path to get to where the old fellow was) and try to talk to him.So after doing some searching, I found a path that led up to the old man's allotment.I shouted to the old man if it was allright for me to come talk to him and he waved me over.We did talk for some 40 minutes, there, on the allotment. The old man told me parts of his history and the history of the allotment whilst I took some photographs.

I'm a good listener.
