Bzzzzz....clack clack clack!

Phoenix Coverley

the sound of the unexpected visitor. My little hike through the chaparral was filled with yarrowy flowers deep in bloom. As I bent down to capture them I noticed the bees, millions of them, feasting on the nectar. The heady smell of summer coming on after a brief rain served as a cunning veil for the rattler striking out down the path, none too pleased to have his snakey environs invaded by a mere mortal such as myself. Harrumph!
