This is the newly restored Longstreet cabin in Ash Meadows. Longstreet was reputed to be an outlaw with "a notch in his gun for every man he killed." Probably a myth, but I was glad he is no longer at home.

The cabin is partly built into a mound adjacent to a spring. The roof is covered with small stones and together with the thick stone walls provided good insulation when doors & windows were installed.
