Freezing mist, that's some weird stuff. Paved roads were slick and dangerous, but rural gravel roads still had some traction. I'd actually stopped the car to photograph the ice-covered weeds in the ditch; the barn and outbuildings were basically just shapes in the mist -- but very interesting shapes. Then it was like a curtain lifted and within two or three minutes the barn became visible.
