tw521 | Elendsklamm, Bruchmühlbach

Martin Suess

Elendsklamm is an interesting name, Google would translate it to "Misery Gorge". But the meaning is less dramatic: The Old High German word "Alilendi" means "the foreign" and had no conotation of miserable. After the dead of Charlemagne 814 the Fronbach creek was the border between the East and West Frankish Kingdom.

The waterfall is the higher one of the two palatine forest waterfalls of the wikipedia list of German waterfalls.
