The Bus Stop 1

Tim Mitchard

During the summer of 2005 I was sitting at work and noticed, out of my window, the bus stop on the other side of the road. I watched for the next hour or so people coming and going. That's when I came up with the idea to photograph the bus stop daily for the next year. The images would be used as part of my final unit at college. I had been studying part time Creative Black and White Photography.

Over the next year I took thousands of pictures of people at the bus stop out side my window. The project for me was more about the people and how they interacted with each other than just pictures of people standing at the stop.

For the project section of UTATAN at www.utata.org/ I have taken some more pictures this summer to bring The Bus Stop up to date. It is the last time I will take any pictures of this bus stop as I'm due to leave the job soon.
