Homemade tamale

Christine P

I have been dying for some tamales for several months now, and I finally collected the ingredients and got myself a steamer, so much of yesterday was spent cooking. The process was amazingly long and yet very forgiving of any mistakes I made (having never done this before, I'm sure there were many). It all would have been easier without needing things to be GF, but I'm finding this is how will be from now on.Tamales are nice because the basic components are GF to begin with, you just have to watch your fillings. I couldn't find GF chile sauce, so I made my own, which really was the longest step in the process (other than steaming which takes about 1.5 hours for a small batch).

They are divine though, and very storable/portable. I think I've found my new sandwich.
