Another old photo from the archives, but SO important and so indicative of my year this year that I just had to include them. I'd never been out of Alabama except for a few brief forays into nearby states for daytrips. Then I took a 22-hour Amtrak trip to Pennsylvania, landing at Philadelphia's beautiful 30th Street Station and beginning a wonderful year-long adventure that included seeing Boston and New Orleans and taking two plane trips. In 11 days, I'll be in Philadelphia again. And if you knew where I've been, you'd understand -- the whole journey to get there has been long, hard, and completely amazing. And yes, I'll be wearing my Timberlands.
