Working on the Railroad

Ken Lunders

After driving out to Moraine Lake (just a few miles from the town of Lake Louise) and deciding not to hike in the rain we headed back to town to look around. Nancy said to turn left at a street paralleling the river adjacent to town because there was a sign for an old railroad station down the road she wanted to see. About 2/3 of the way there we saw the huge CP #2816 locomotive once again & immediately parked illegally in the railroad parking lot adjacent to it. Here we saw several people servicing the engine. This pair has already greased the fittings and is now wiping down the loco to remove sand, excess grease & oil etc. getting ready for their continued run over Kicking Horse Pass into BC.
