Small Treasures

I’m not sure why these small treasures delight me so much. When I discover one, I always feel as if I have gotten away with something. I’ve won some sort of cosmic jackpot.

Many other people know this feeling when they see a sudden rainbow. It’s beautiful, it’s ephemeral, and its appearance seems like an extraordinary gift. It truly is a gift, and one to be treasured. But so is the sight of a dewy leaf in the early morning, each drop a sparkling globe. So is sight of a plump bumblebee, with its furry yellow stripes and its bulging pollen sacs.

Little beauties like these are everywhere around us. Search for them. Learn to notice and appreciate them, and life is grand.
