This is Eddie, he’s been here 64 years. He is The Excalibur Estates oldest surviving original resident. When he first moved in the roads and pavements hadn’t been laid, it was still a building site. He saw the prefabs erected one by one.

Over the years many of the prefabs have been decorated inside and out to give each one an individual look. Just walking around the estate you can see a variety of colours and styles.

There have been many attempts over the years by Lewisham Council to redevelop the site. These attempts have always be unsuccessful.

However the prefabs are under threat again of being demolished.
